Vitamin D supplementation to prevent COVID-19 and other viral diseases.
The positive role of vitamin D against respiratory and viral diseases has been verified and confirmed for many years now, enough to be effective in preventing them (or against severe outcomes) until 200 times more than many vaccines .
Already in 2020 a study of Fatemeh Hadizadeh has re-analysed the potential of vitamin D against covid-19, the resulting rationale is positive :
ACE2 is considered a receptor for SARS-CoV-2 through which the virus attaches to the cell. However, ACE2 also plays a protective role in the development of complicated manifestations of this viral infection.20 The active form of vitamin D can induce ACE2 expression and regulate the immune system through several distinct mechanisms. Laboratory experiments demonstrate that vitamin D can reduce the replication of other respiratory viruses and this is supported by clinical data demonstrating a preventive role of vitamin D against viral RTIs, particularly in those with very low plasma concentrations of vitamin D. Considering this information and the important role of ACE2 in the prevention of complications of COVID-19 on the one hand and its regulatory association with vitamin D on the other, it seems rational to consider a potential role of vitamin D against SARS-Cov-2, although to date we do not know for sure whether such an effect exists. Presumably, the most protective effect of supplementation occurs in patients deficient in vitamin D (i.e. those with serum levels of 25(Oh)D < 10 of/mL) and possibly before the onset of complications. Although vitamin D is safe (toxicity is quite rare), easily available and accessible, its deficiency is a global health problem. therefore, supplementation with daily doses (preferable) or weekly vitamin D supplements, aimed at increasing the concentration of 25(Oh)D serum up to the optimal level of 30-50 ng/mL69,111-114 could be considered a global strategy, being more prominent in countries with a high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and particularly in patients with COVID-19 who are at high risk of ICU admission.
These data were confirmed by another study, always in 2020, gives another in 2021
Lactoferrin is a multifunctional protein that exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, immunoregulatory and anti-infective. One of its receptor sites is located on the coronavirus 2 of severe acute respiratory syndrome. Binding of lactoferrin to heparin sulfate proteoglycans may prevent first contact between virus and host cells, thus preventing subsequent infection. Since lactoferrin can act as a natural mucosal barrier, it can be hypothesized that an intranasal treatment combined with its oral intake could prevent the spread, the infection and inflammation caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). Moreover, the literature reports that vitamin D plays an essential role in promoting the immune response. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory properties, Vitamin D is essential for activating the defenses of the immune system, improving the function of immune cells. Several studies also show that lactoferrin is a potential vitamin D receptor activator. In this sense, the combined use of lactoferrin (through a combination of oral intake and a nasal spray formulation) and vitamin D could represent a valid therapy for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. However, further randomized clinical trials are needed before recommending/prescribing them.

I study “Association between vitamin D supplementation and COVID-19 infection and mortality” of November 2022 demonstrated the effectiveness of Vitamin D both in reducing the likelihood of infection, and in reducing the number of deaths related to covid-19:
The authors summarize:
“Vitamin D deficiency has long been associated with impaired immune function which can lead to viral infections. Several studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency is associated with an increased risk of COVID-19 infection. However, it is not known whether treatment with vitamin D increases the risk of infection. However, it is not known whether vitamin D treatment can reduce the associated risk of COVID-19 infection, which is the goal of this study. In the U.S. veteran population, we demonstrated that vitamin D2 and D3 refills were associated with reductions in COVID-19 infection by 28% he was born in 20%, respectively [(D3 Hazard Ratio (HR) = 0,80, [95% us 0,77, 0,83]), D2 HR = 0,72, [95% us 0,65, 0,79]]. Mortality within 30 days after COVID-19 infection was similarly lower than 33% with vitamin D3 and del 25% with the D2 (D3 HR = 0,67, [95% us 0,59, 0,75]; D2 HR = 0,75, [95% us 0,55, 1,04]). We also discovered that, after checking blood levels of vitamin D, Veterans who received higher dosages of vitamin D achieved greater benefits from supplementation than veterans who received lower dosages. Veterans with vitamin D blood levels between 0 E 19 ng/ml showed the greatest reduction in COVID-19 infection following supplementation. Black veterans achieved a greater reduction in COVID-19 risk associated with supplementation than white veterans. As a safe treatment, widely available and cheap, vitamin D can help reduce the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Vitamin D is also useful in the treatment of long covid, it even manages to act as a neuroprotective
Again we ask ourselves: because the health authorities do not activate awareness campaigns for the intake of vitamin D, especially in the elderly and frail? Maybe because it can't be patented by pharmaceutical companies and it's cheap?
What we have seen in the management of the covid-19 pandemic tells us that the health authorities have shown that they are subservient to the drug multinationals, and the order of journalists has helped to silence any doubts about the vaccination campaign and the vaccines that are claiming an enormous number of lives due to the consequences of those substances.
